Part-Time Accountant (0.6-0.8 FTE)

The Commission for the Conservation of Antarctic Marine Living Resources (CCAMLR) is seeking a part-time, highly motivated Accountant to join our team in Hobart, Tasmania.

About the Role:

Play a vital role in supporting CCAMLR's mission of conserving Antarctic marine life by ensuring the accuracy and integrity of our financial operations. In this part-time position (negotiable hours from 45 to 60 hours per fortnight) you will be responsible for a wide range of accounting tasks, including:

  • Assisting with budget preparation, forecasts, and monthly management account preparation.
  • Supporting year-end closing procedures, financial statement preparation and interacting with auditors.
  • Contributing to the management of CCAMLR's investments and special funds.
  • Providing support with international financial reporting and tax requirements.
  • Coordinating payroll and superannuation for staff.
  • Maintaining general ledger accounts, processing journals, and reconciling bank statements.

Who We Are Looking For:

  • A qualified accountant with a minimum bachelor's degree in accounting.
  • Minimum five years of relevant experience.
  • Strong knowledge of IFRS/AASB and experience in financial statement preparation and audit.
  • Experience with payroll processing and superannuation.
  • Excellent time management skills, meticulous attention to detail, and strong analytical and numerical skills.
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite and NetSuite (CCAMLR's ERP system).
  • Effective communication skills and the ability to meet deadlines.
