Data Administration Officer

About the Position
The Commission for the Conservation of Antarctic Marine Living Resources (CCAMLR) is seeking a highly organised and detail-oriented individual to join our Fisheries Monitoring and Compliance (FMC) team as a Data Administration Officer. This role is essential for the administration of fishery monitoring data, ensuring the accurate processing, validation, and timely submission of fishery data into CCAMLR's data systems.

The Data Administration Officer will work under the general direction of the Fisheries Monitoring and Compliance Manager and will play a key role in supporting the ongoing work of the Secretariat.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Administer the receipt, processing, and validation of fishery monitoring data (catch and effort reports, haul by haul data, scientific observer data).
  • Assist with in-season monitoring, updating the fishery monitoring system, processing of catch and effort reports, and generating draft Fishery Monitoring Catch Reports.
  • Assist with the upload and quality assurance of haul-by-haul data, scientific observer data, and other scientific data as required.
  • Process compliance-related data submissions such as transshipment notifications and vessel movement data, providing administrative support as necessary.
  • Work closely with the FMC and Science teams to ensure effective data management and quality assurance.
  • Provide administrative assistance in data registry, metadata management, and feedback reporting on data consistency with CCAMLR's Conservation Measures.

Essential Qualifications and Experience:

  • A tertiary or vocational qualification (Certificate/Diploma) in a relevant discipline, equivalent relevant experience may also be considered.
  • Minimum of three years' relevant experience in data administration or a similar role.

Technical Skills:

  • Data entry and processing experience using various software systems.
  • High-level computer literacy with expertise in Microsoft Office (particularly MS Access and Excel).
  • Attention to detail and ability to detect errors in datasets.
